What are we trying to achieve with this referral campaign?
Simply put, we’re asking you to ask your friends, family and colleagues to join you as a Maverick Insider. The more people who sign on using your unique link, you’ll be entered into a draw to win one of our prizes. Our goal? Doubling our member base to 64,000.
It’s our first time running a campaign of this nature and there are elements that we could have made clearer and easier to action.
To rectify this we’ve compiled a few answers to common questions we received and some easy resources for you to use:
1. How do I share the campaign with my friends and family?
You would have received a unique referral link in an email titled ''You're already a legend. What if your friends were too?''
You can search your inbox for that mail to retrieve your link. Once you have it, you can start referring.
OR
You can also retrieve your link from your membership portal, which you can access here.
Need some inspiration for messaging? Copy and paste the below.
- Hey, I wanted to share something really important to me. Daily Maverick is running a campaign to grow their Maverick Insider community. - I’ve been a Maverick Insider for a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. Daily Maverick is running a campaign to grow our community, and I’m reaching out because I know how much impact this journalism has had. Use my link to join. it’s a small act that fuels big accountability. Plus: I could win some great prizes if you do.
- I joined Maverick Insider not too long ago, and honestly, I wish I’d done it sooner. Daily Maverick is now running a campaign to grow the community. If you’ve ever thought about joining, now’s the time. Use my link to sign up and support journalism that really matters (PS: I could win a prize if you do).
2. Why do I see my subscription details when I click on the link?
You’re already an Insider, so when you follow the link it will take you to a signup page that has your information. When you share it with someone new, they won’t see the same message. If you’re uncertain, open the link in an incognito window.
3. How will you know I referred someone?
When someone joins using your unique link, our system automatically recognises it as yours and adds an entry into the prize draw under your name.
4. I’d also like to help in other ways. How do I increase my contribution amount?
- Visit your membership portal here: https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/manage-membership
- Choose the Update Contribution Amount option from the available choices
- Select the new amount you wish to contribute and click Submit
- Select the payment method and tick the "Agree to Terms and Conditions" box
- You will be redirected to a page where you will need to enter your card details
- Click "Pay R2" (this fee is charged to validate the card)
- An authorisation message will be sent to you. Please approve it to update your details.
Aside from the warm fuzzy feeling of supporting impactful, independent journalism, recruiting your friends and family will put you in line to win one of these great prizes:
