Why does an ad blocker pop-up?

Modified on Wed, 27 Oct 2021 at 10:06 AM

An ad-blocker can appear if you are trying to access an article that belongs to our archives of more than 50,000 pieces of work over the past decade.

You can access our entire archive through one of the following options:

  1. Sign in to your reader account or register an account on the Daily Maverick website and you will gain access to the archived articles. (signing up is free).

  2. Sign in to your Maverick Insider account on the Daily Maverick website. You will then gain access to the archived articles.

  3. For those who are feeling generous and have the means, there is an option to support our archived stories by purchasing:

  • Day Pass – R4.

  • 1 Month Pass – R60.

  • 6 Month Pass – R300.

4. If you don’t want to do any of the above and only want to read the article then all you need to do is click on the orange writing at the bottom of the pop-up that says “No thanks, I don’t want to pay or register”. However, please note that you may be prompted by the pop-up several times thereafter. Again, just sign in to your account to resolve this.
