Signing up with a Direct Debit

To become a Maverick Insider and contribute via the Direct Debit payment method, please follow the steps below.

1. On the Maverick Insider sign-up page, select or specify the amount that you’d like to contribute and specify whether you’d like to contribute monthly or annually, then click ‘Sign Up’. 

2. Provide your email address so that we can send you a code to log in.

3. You’ll receive an email with a one-time-pin (OTP) that you’ll then use to log in. 

4. If you don’t already have a reader’s account with us, you may be prompted to create an account by clicking ‘Create new account’.

5. Upon logging in, a page will appear where you can choose between contributing by debit order or by credit card.

6. If you select debit order as the payment method, you’ll be asked for your personal information and your banking details.

7. Provide the required information and click ‘Complete Payment’.

8. You should receive a notification that DebiCheck is attempting to authorise your account.

9. Upon completion of account authorisation, you should see a notification on the phone linked to your bank account, asking you to approve the debit order.

10. Upon approval, you should see a notification that your membership has been set up.

11. And just like that, you’re now a Maverick Insider contributing to independent journalism.
